Prior to the arrival of CGI technicians on site, water was said to be entering the elevator pit through a horizontal foundation wall cold joint approximately 3 ft. above the floor slab. At first it was reported that there was a 12 LF cold joint at which the water was entering. Upon visual inspection of the elevator pit area, it was deemed that there were a total of 30 LF of cracks and or cold joints which needed to be addressed, and were successfully treated with the CGI waterproofing process.

Several months later after our waterproofing injections remediate the below grade water intrusion within the foundation walls’ cracks and cold joints, ponded water could be seen on the elevator pit’s floor slab. As all of the foundation walls were dry and water was not running down from the walls, through the process of elimination, the new water intrusion was finding its way through the floor slab to the bottom of the walls interface of the pit and /or thorough floor slab cracks. As the concrete floor slab is situated on grade (on top of soil) and is at the lowest building elevation, the exterior footing to floor slab interface is a typical water intrusive culprit, which allows water to penetrate and migrate through the interior floor to wall interface. Upon performing the CGI waterproofing within this perimeter floor slab to wall interface, the groundwater intrusion was completely eliminated. Thus, it turned out that there were no further groundwater entry points from within any floor slab hairline cracks.
