The existing tunnel that runs under 65th Street links the sub cellar mechanical rooms of the Juliard Building Complex and The Lincoln Center Performing Arts Theater. As the old coatings surrounding the exterior below street grade of the tunnel structure began deteriorating, the tunnel was experiencing water infiltration for many years. As such, the concrete walls, horizontal structural ceiling slab and the floor slab were experiencing heavy degradation. This project involved remediating the water intrusion within these concrete structures so that a concrete repair program could be institutes. CGI NE performed a comprehensive injection waterproofing program within approximately 2000 SF of these concrete structures. Upon successfully correcting the below grade water intrusion, SCS Co. performed the structural concrete repair and steel reinforcement work. The tunnel was restored to its original condition, only this time the CGI waterproofing membrane will prevent the below street water intrusion from entering the tunnel for many years to come.

This case study gallery showcases the step-by-step waterproofing process we perform for clients — from active water intrusion to fully sealed structures. Each example includes progress photos that illustrate our negative-side injection method in action, so you can see the results for yourself.
